  2. WHO IS THEIR GUIDE FOR TRUTH? BY STEVE FINNELL

The apostle's guide for truth. John 16:13 "However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth.....

When the apostles spoke or wrote they spoke with the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

The apostle Peter said "There is an antitype which now saves us, namely baptism...(1 Peter 3:21)(NKJV)

Who guided Billy Graham to say baptism is not a requirement for salvation?
Billy Graham Quote: “You may know that we urge immediate and extensive Bible study for each convert. As the Scripture is reviewed, the place of baptism will surely be discovered. If baptism were a requirement for salvation, we would certainly say that. But you couldn’t support that knowing, for example, that the thief on the cross had no opportunity for baptism or church membership. Yet on his confession, paradise was secured. Jesus said to him, ‘Today shalt thou be with me in paradise’ (Luke 23:43).”

The apostle Peter said.... "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. (Acts 2:38) NKJV)

Who instructed Max Lucado to say salvation precedes water baptism?

    Max Lucado Quote:
In a television interview in Nashville, Tennessee, July 2, 1997, Max Lucado said:
I BELIEVE IN BAPTISM. JESUS WAS BAPTIZED. THE BIBLE TEACHES BAPTISM. I JUST DON'T BELIEVE THAT BAPTISM SAVES YOU. I BELIEVE THAT JESUS CHRIST SAVES US. AND BAPTISM IS ONE OF THOSE WAYS WE CELEBRATE OUR SALVATION. IT'S REALLY THE INITIAL STEP OF THE FAITHFUL BELIEVER.
Max Lucado Quote: 3) “What of the ones who die before they have a chance? What if I entrust my soul to Christ and before I can tell anyone or arrange to be baptized, a swarm of killer bees attacks me and I die?”
The answer to this question is found in the character of God. Would a God of love reject an honest heart? No way. Would a God of mercy and kindness condemn any seeking soul? Absolutely not. Having called you and died for you would he cast you away because of a curious sequence of events? Inconceivable. Is it possible for an unbaptized believer to be saved? Yes, definitely. Should every believer be baptized? Yes, definitely.

Should men use Billy Graham and Max Lucado as teachers of truth or should men use the Holy Spirit, guided, apostles as teachers.

Does the Holy Spirit give one truth to the apostles and a different truth to contemporary preachers?
