Hello out there! Welcome to our new blog spot for Rock Mills UMC. We are very excited to be out here in cyber world. Let us introduce ourselves. I am Rev. Frank Korb. I am just completing my fourth year in the ministry. I started my career at Waverly United Methodist Church in Waverly, AL. Rock Mills is my second appointment and I am just finishing up my first year here. I am currently in school doing my Course of Study for the Conference and it has been extremely eye opening. Shorlty after moving to Rock Mills I also joined the local Volunteer Fire Dept. It has been enjoyable, especially after I was a paid firefighter for several years in Florida. The other half of the ministry team is my wife, Karen. She is a woman who wears many hats and loves them all. She is a singer – singing with the group Still Magnolias. She was part of the original First United Methodist Church Arbor Praise Team until we moved in June 2010. She is a teacher of Spanish I – III at the high school level in Alexander City, at Benjamin Russell High School. Her newest hat is that of a preacher’s wife. She is a Certified Lay Speaker and can actually fill a pulpit and has a few times. She has joined me in a Porch Person at Rock Mills and likes that role a lot. We have four wonderful children, Amy and her husband Steven, Kat and her husband Brian, Jenifer and her husband Sam, and Eric. We have just finished with the experience of dealing with a parent with dementia and learning how to deal with losing them to this dreaded condition. We love to travel and Karen has currently been to 48 of the 50 United States, England, Ireland, Wales, Germany, Italy, most of Mexico and Canada. I was in the Navy and have been everywhere. Karen’s big dream is to one day tackle the Mother Road – Route 66. There is something about the tales, the music, and the teepee motel that just peeks her interest. I can’t wait for her to accomplish this. Our house is being overtaken with Route 66 stuff.
